General Motors Media StatementsFOR RELEASE: July 13, 1998 CONTACT: GM Media Line PHONE: 888-436-6687WARREN, Mich. -- As of 4 p.m. Monday, July 13, 1998, approximately 165,000 GM North American Operations and Delphi Automotive Systems employees have been affected by the UAW work stoppages in Flint, Mich.
Since our last update, all employees previously affected by the work stoppages at the Pontiac East, Mich. truck plant have been called back. As scheduled, the Pontiac East facility is in preproduction of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Also, additional employees have been affected at some of our assembly plants.
The number of strike-affected assembly plants remains 26. The Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, small car assembly plant, the Oshawa, Ontario, truck plant, and Saturn Corp. in Spring Hill, Tenn. are up and operating after the GM vacation shutdown.
The next update will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14.
