MEDIA ADVISORY: Chevrolet to Make Consumer Battery Announcement and Provide Update on Battery Testing

DETROIT – Chevrolet will conduct a media briefing on Wednesday, July 14 at 2 p.m. EDT, at GM’s Brownstown, MI, battery manufacturing plant to announce a major consumer initiative.  Details on the validation and testing of the Chevrolet Volt’s lithium-ion battery and the start of regular production also will be provided.

The event will include remarks by Tom Stephens, GM vice chairman of Global Product Operations and Micky Bly, GM executive director of Global Electrical Systems.

Directions from downtown Detroit (approximately 20 minutes):

  • I-75 South to Sibley Road (Exit 34B)
  • LEFT on Sibley and go 4/10 mile to Brownstown Center Drive.
  • RIGHT on Brownstown Center Drive 9/10 mil. Brownstown Battery Plant will be on your LEFT (watch for the Brownstown Plant sign)
  • LEFT and continue past the dock doors on your right to the NE corner of the building.
  • Follow parking instruction signs

Please note: No cameras will be allowed in the facility.  Following the briefing, photos will be provided on a memory stick. They also will be posted on media.gm.com.
