MIAMI  — GMC and longtime partner Safe Kids USA (www.usa.safekids.org) celebrated a week of events in Miami to spread holiday cheer and bring timely road and toy safety reminders to South Florida’s parents, bloggers and other local community members.

During an intimate roundtable with a group of parenting bloggers at Brickell Motors in Miami, representatives from Safe Kids shared important information that could save children’s lives on the road, providing hands-on vehicle safety demonstrations that used the new GMC Terrain as a backdrop.

“Having three kids of my own, I thought I knew all there was about car seats and seat belts and such. Come to find out, neither my children nor me have been traveling very safe,” said Jewel, author of The Tiny Jewel Box blog.

Bloggers who joined the kids safety chat also got a chance to hear first-hand about the passion and innovation behind the GMC Terrain from two of General Motors Color and Trim Designers, Lori Norwood and Johanna Medina, and GMC’s marketing manager, Hugh Milne.

“The Terrain is GMC’s new family-friendly SUV,” said Hugh Milne. “While smaller on the outside, it comes packed with smart, high-tech tools that offer a safer and more convenient drive for a broader audience.”

As part of the events, participants helped fill a new Terrain with toys benefiting Voices for Children Foundation’s annual toy drive, helping Miami-Dade’s abused, abandoned and neglected kids. The weeklong activities culminated with the delivery of a cargo-filled toy donation by the GMC team at the Voices for Children holiday drop-off center in Coral Gables, FL.

“We are excited to receive this donation from GMC and all of those who joined in this holiday effort to bring smiles to the children we serve,” said Nelson F. Hincapie, president and CEO, Voices for Children Foundation. “Every little thing goes a long way, especially when you are working with children who are often overlooked.”
