Safety, Security and Information Service

OnStar, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors, is changing the way people interact with their vehicles. OnStar uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite network and wireless technology to link driver and vehicle to an OnStar Centre, where highly trained advisors are standing by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

OnStar is leading the industry by offering a comprehensive array of services that provide drivers with an enhanced driving experience. At the touch of a button, an OnStar advisor is available to contact emergency service providers or roadside assistance. In the case of a crash in which the vehicle's air bags deploy, an advisor will contact the vehicle to determine whether help is required. OnStar can provide directions; directly from a trained OnStar Advisor or by using OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation (antilock braking system required and is not available in certain areas), remotely unlock or lock a vehicle's doors, send a monthly email report that outlines the results of hundreds of diagnostics checks on certain key operating systems in the vehicle and even help with convenience and information services such as making restaurant reservations or finding the closest gas station. Service is available in English, French and Spanish.

OnStar's three-button system was designed to allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. The buttons are integrated into the vehicle's rearview mirror, instrument panel, or overhead console, depending on the model. The OnStar advisor's voice is heard through the audio system and a small microphone picks up the driver's voice. The system is easy to access, simple to use and completely integrated into the vehicle.

OnStar Hands Free Calling is a voice-activated wireless calling service that is already built into the vehicle's hardware to make and receive calls. Drivers can pre-purchase a package of minutes based on their needs or enroll in the Bell Minute-Sharing with OnStar plan. With OnStar Hands-Free Calling, there are no activation fees, no additional long distance charges and no roaming charges. It operates through the vehicle's existing audio system and allows drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. OnStar Hands Free Calling is there for OnStar subscribers in case their hand-held cell phone is lost, forgotten or has a low battery. All new OnStar-equipped vehicles include 30 Hands Free Calling minutes valid for two months.

OnStar is becoming an increasingly popular safety and security feature, OnStar has more than 5 million subscribers in North America and the number of interactions with customers continues to scale rapidly. On a monthly basis, OnStar typically responds to: 900 air bag notifications, 750 Advanced Automatic Crash Notification calls, 9,500 emergency services, 700 stolen vehicle location assistance calls, 53,000 remote door unlock calls, 30,000 roadside assistance calls, 338,000 route support calls and 55,000 remote diagnostics calls (on demand). More than 2.5 million participants are enrolled in OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, and 15.4 million calls are made using OnStar Hands-Free Calling each month (average based on service delivery from February to April 2007).

WHAT'S NEW AT ONSTAR

ONSTAR SERVICE PLANS

Safe & Sound Plan - The services included in this plan are:

Automatic Notification of Air Bag Deployment - If a vehicle's air bag deploys, an emergency signal is automatically sent to the OnStar Centre. An advisor will attempt to communicate with the vehicle's occupants.

If there is no response or if the vehicle's occupants report an emergency, the advisor will determine the exact location of the vehicle using GPS and will contact the appropriate nearest emergency service provider.

Emergency Services - In an emergency, the driver simply presses the emergency services button, which initiates a priority call to the OnStar Centre. A specially trained advisor immediately locates the vehicle's position on a map, and alerts the nearest emergency service provider.

OnStar Crisis Assist - During severe weather, natural disasters, or other crisis events, push the red or blue OnStar button to access additional services. Specially-trained Crisis Advisors can help customers reach their loved ones, obtain food, water, medical supplies and address a wide range of other needs.

Vehicle Location Assistance - If the vehicle is stolen, the subscriber can call the OnStar Centre to alert them of the incident. OnStar will work with authorities and attempt to locate the vehicle by sending a signal to the vehicle to identify its location. OnStar will continue to attempt to locate the vehicle's location to assist the police in its recovery.

OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics - Get automatic monthly vehicle checks and complimentary e-mail reports. Between monthly reports, enrollees can also request GM Goodwrench Remote Diagnostics checks.

Remote Diagnostics - If a warning light illuminates on the vehicle's instrument panel, the driver can contact the OnStar Centre for diagnosis. The advisor sends a signal to the vehicle and retrieves a status update from the engine computer. Based on the information received, the advisor recommends the required action, which could include turning the vehicle off and waiting for roadside assistance, scheduling a service appointment as quickly as possible, or checking the problem during the next scheduled maintenance visit.

AccidentAssist - OnStar will provide step-by-step guidance for drivers who are in a motor vehicle crash. This makes processing or filing a police report and/or insurance claim faster and less stressful.

Roadside Assistance - If a subscriber has mechanical trouble, a flat tire or runs out of gas, he or she simply presses the OnStar button for assistance. The advisor pinpoints the location of the vehicle and can dispatch the nearest GM service provider to the vehicle's location and request help without the driver or passengers ever having to leave the vehicle.

Remote Door Unlock - If the driver's keys are locked in the vehicle, he or she places a call to the OnStar Centre using a toll-free number. After obtaining accurate security information from the caller, the advisor will send a cellular data call to the vehicle instructing it to unlock itself at a specified time.

Remote Horn and Lights - OnStar can send a signal to activate a subscriber's horn and lights to help them quickly locate their vehicle.

Directions & Connections Plan - This plan includes all Safe & Sound Plan services, plus:

Routing and Location Assistance - When the driver places a call to the OnStar Centre, the advisor pinpoints the vehicle's location and provides voice routing navigation assistance, including helping to find an alternate route if the driver is caught in traffic.

Information/Convenience Services - An OnStar advisor can offer a wide range of information and convenience services, from suggesting a restaurant to making hotel reservations. The advisor consults a comprehensive database that contains more than 5 million service listings and can provide location information for banks, movie theatres, shopping malls, gas stations and more.
