2005 PONTIAC WAVE: RIDE THE WAVE WITH AN
ALL NEW ENTRY-LEVEL PONTIAC
True to the
Pontiac image, the all-new Pontiac Wave is an entry-level car that
incorporates performance with sleek styling and functionality for
first-time new car buyers.
In addition
to its functionality and affordability, the Wave appeals to a young
urban market that is looking for a vehicle that provides the freedom
to live life on their terms.
The front-wheel-drive
Wave is offered in four-door sedan and sporty five-door body styles.
Modern, sleek
interior
The interior
of the Pontiac Wave is all about sleek styling. It mimics the modern
designs that fill today's trendy lofts and apartments in urban environments,
with a touch of retro in the mix. A sleek two-tone instrument panel
is combined with smooth, shiny metallic steering wheel inserts and
matching metallic rings around the cluster dials. Plus, red dial
needles provide the Pontiac look.
A subtle metallic
look and feel continues throughout the car with metallic finish
on the shifter and shifter trim plate.
The Wave provides
plenty of room for five passengers and offers conveniences to make
driving an enjoyable experience. Tilt steering and easy manual seat
adjustments (fore/aft, recline, and height) and headrest height
adjustment are standard for driver comfort, with plenty of headroom
and legroom. In the rear, the Wave rear bench seat features integral
headrests on the sedan and separate headrests on the five-door,
with a standard 60/40-split folding design for added flexibility.
Modern conveniences
meet the needs of today's drivers and include shopping hooks on
the front driver and passenger seatbacks, an extra 12-volt outlet
for items such as cell phones, plus an available CD player with
optional MP3 capability. A four-speaker system is standard on the
Wave, with a six-speaker premium sound system available. The Wave
also offers plenty of pockets and storage space to help store items
such as maps or magazines.
Available convenience
features include: power door locks, power windows, remote keyless
entry, power outside passenger-side rearview mirror and dual outside
heated rearview mirrors.
Sporty exterior
The Wave offers
a sporty exterior that begins with the distinctive Pontiac split
grille, highlighting Pontiac's heritage of excitement and performance.
Offered in a variety of colours, the standard black outside rearview
mirrors and matching black pillars add to the chic appearance. The
five-door model is also accented with standard foglamps.
For a sportier
look, an appearance package is available. It includes 14-inch alloy
wheels and mudguards. The appearance package on the five-door also
includes a rear spoiler and a power sunroof.
Exterior colours
on the Wave include Galaxy White, Sports Blue, Super Red, Active
Red, Pearl Black, Aqua, Sunset Orange and Dove Silver.
Responsive
performance
The 1.6L DOHC
four-cylinder engine is standard on all models, generating responsive
performance with 103 horsepower (77 kw) at 6000 rpm and 107 lb.-ft.
of torque (148 Nm) at 3600 rpm. The engine is mated to a lightweight
five-speed manual transmission with overdrive or available four-speed
automatic with overdrive and step-gate shifter.
The front suspension
features MacPherson struts with a stabilizer bar, and the rear suspension
features a trailing arm, torsion beam axle with coil springs. Rack-and-pinion
steering is standard, along with power-assisted front disc and rear
drum brakes. Four-channel ABS is available.
Safety features
The 2005 Pontiac
Wave offers additional features and options for safety-minded consumers.
In addition to standard front driver and passenger air bags, the
Wave is equipped with conventionally mounted three-point lap and
shoulder belts in all seating positions, with height-adjustable
shoulder belt anchors for the driver and front passenger.
All Pontiac
Wave models are equipped with the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers
for CHildren) system for child seats in the two outboard rear-seat
locations. Other safety features and options include remote keyless
entry, anti-theft system, child safety door locks, a power window
lockout switch, daytime running lamps, delay-entry lighting and
internal manual trunk entrapment release handle.
