PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The Pontiac Grand Am is popular among
buyers for its sporty, expressive
styling, ride and handling performance,
and features. It appeals to sporty
sedan and coupe buyers, many of whom
are or have been import car owners.
NEW FOR 1999: * All-new exterior and interior design
(built on new vehicle platform)
* Wheelbase is 8.4 cm (3.3") longer with
slightly reduced overall vehicle
length, and front track is also
increased 8.4 cm (3.3") while overall
width at the centre of the car has
increased only 3.8 cm (1.5"), giving
the car an aggressive, sporty
appearance
* Larger interior volume (107.3 cubic
feet for coupes compared to previous
87.4 cubic feet, and 105.4 cubic feet
for sedans compared to previous 88.5
cubic feet)
* Larger trunk volume (14.6 cubic feet
compared to previous 13.2 cubic feet)
* Standard engine for SE models is the
2.4L 16-valve Twin Cam L4 (150 hp), and
the new 3.4L 3400 V6 engine (170 hp) is
available on SE and standard on GT
models

New 4T45-E electronically controlled

exclusively with the 3400 V6 engine)
features a 10-percent increase in
torque capacity as well as improved
input, reaction and final drive gear

* New rear cornering lamp directs light
at a 45-degree angle to the side of the
