NEW H3T EXPANDS HUMMER'S RANGE FOR 2009; H2 ADDS SAFETY AND CONVENIENCE TECHNOLOGY
HUMMER's iconic range of capable vehicles includes the full-size H2 and the midsize H3. The lineup stretches in 2009 with the all-new H3T, a truck based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate 1.5 metre-long (five-foot) bed.
H3's capability
The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires. The V-8-powered H3T Alpha can tow up to 2,676 kg (5,900 pounds).
Like all HUMMER models, the new H3T is infused with exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable. All H3 models in '09 receive Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity and a new rear camera system display. Additional changes for all H3/H3T models include a front locking differential with the Adventure package and hill start assist.
The HUMMER H3's capability has been lauded by customers and critics alike. The '08 H3 Alpha was named Four Wheeler of the Year by Four Wheeler magazine and it was recognized as Best in Class in the Hardcore 4x4 category by Truck Trend.
HUMMER H3 production models share direct lineage to racing models that have grabbed wins throughout the off-road racing circuit. The H3 Alpha was the first stock-class vehicle to finish the prestigious 2007 Baja 1000 and the 3.7L-powered truck was the second to finish.
H2's winning legacy
The flagship of the HUMMER lineup continues to be the rugged yet refined and race-winning H2. At the start of the '08 racing season, the stock-class H2 fielded by Rod Hall Racing's Team Hummer notched first- and second-place wins in its first two races. That comes on the heels of three wins out of five races in '07. The racing vehicles are based on regular-production H2s, with only regulatory safety equipment and other minor differences separating them from examples found in HUMMER dealerships.
H2 models - including the unique H2 SUT - are powered by a 6.2L all-aluminum small-block V-8 engine rated at 393 horsepower (293 kW) and paired with a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission. Performance-optimizing engine technologies, such as variable valve timing, and the six-speed's wide gear ratios, including a "tall" overdrive gear, optimize the powertrain's efficiency.
New for '09, the 6.2L engine is calibrated for FlexFuel capability, meaning it can run on E85 ethanol, gasoline or any combination of the two fuels. Comfort and convenience items are added too, including Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, OnStar with new Destination Download feature and enhanced luxury features.
